Juiceman JM400 Juiceman Jr. 2-Speed Electric Juicer

Star Rating (27 reviews)

Research says:

The Juiceman JM400 is a nice addition to any healthy kitchen, this fruits-and-vegetables electric centrifugal juicer produces fresh juice with a simple turn of a knob. Just place a glass or pitcher under the spout, insert fruit or vegetables into the large feed chute (cutting over-sized items into smaller pieces if necessary), and gently and slowly press down using the included pusher. The machine accommodates anything from pineapple, melon, apples, oranges, and grapes to tomatoes, celery stalks, cucumbers, carrots, spinach, and more. Fresh produce contains the most juice, and only thick peels need to be removed--thin peels or skins can be left on. The unit comes equipped with a powerful 700-watt motor and two speed settings for simple one-handed operation that extracts pulp-free juice in minutes. Other highlights include a stainless-steel permanent-mesh filter and filter basket, a safety interlock switch, attractive chrome-plated housing, a high-impact see-through lid, a removable pulp container for easy cleaning, and non-skid rubber feet to ensure sturdy placement on a table or countertop. Dishwasher-safe parts make cleanup a snap, and a 3/4-quart juice jug and a filter-cleaning brush come included. The electric juicer measures approximately 14-1/2 by 10 by 18 inches.

We are big juicers. Our main home juicer is the Greenstar 2000. We got a Juiceman 400 as our travel juicer, but it has failed 4 separate times. Three were broken parts, and this last time the engine just quit!
If you juice once a month, this might be OK, but if you really want a good juicer, that's not too expensive, we just replaced this JM400 with a CuisinArt 5 speed juicer. It's very quiet (whereas the JM400 sounds like a small jet aircraft).
Don't try to run kale into your JM400. It's

It is good if you are just starting out. The pulp is not as dry as I think it should be which probably means that there is juice being wasted. Motor is powerful. I haven't had any problems with hard veggies or fruits getting stuck so far.

The 1st 2 months it worked great, but the 3rd month the motor started making loud noise and a lot of shaking. So now I am stuck with a machine that doesn't work. Don't invest in it. Rather get something more durable that will last longer. I have to actually call customer service and see if they can replace it!

I previously owned one of Juiceman's little juicers back in the day and decided to give this one a whirl because I missed the taste of fresh juices. The Juiceman JM 400 Juiceman Jr. is definitely more handsome than its old plastic predecessor. It looks sturdy and powerful, and it is. The first time I tried it, I made an old favourite, apple-carrot-ginger juice. I was not prepared for it. This juicer sounds as if it has a diesel engine. On high speed, I had to hold on to my juice-catcher to keep it from rattling off the counter. Before it was over, my shirt was covered with carrot innards, but the juice itself was delicious.

This is the biggest problem: cleaning. It's a pain in the bum. Even with a bag in the pulp receptacle, the pulp still gets everywhere in the juicer. The Bowl-Blade of Doom is practically impossible to de-pulp. It seems to take an eternity.

I love the fresh juice, and I love the Juiceman's recipes, but for the trouble, this thing should not have only come with his book for free. They should have sent the Juiceman himself to do the clean-up.

I bought this juicer (Jul 09) after my simpler, less powerful one broke. In comparison, the Juiceman jr. is more powerful and loud, but didn't produce any more juice than the cheaper one. I washed some parts in the dishwasher - upper rack only. There are 9 parts, by the way, excluding the main unit and cleaning brush. The lid is now deformed and won't fit, making the unit useless. I called (Oct 09) while it is still under warranty to get a replacement lid. It is on backorder (which tells you something). Called again Jan 2010. They told me it is scheduled to be in the warehouse that week and then shipped. Two weeks after that, I still haven't seen it. I called again and the agent told me it has been quite common that replacement parts are on backorder for a long time and thought maybe they were redesigning it, but said it may be in their warehouse at the end of January or the end of February. Even if you like this juicer, you may not have good service if you need replacement parts. If I could return it and get my money back, I would.

I orginally set out to buy a Jack Lelanne Juicer as I had one in the past and was pleased with it. This one caught my eye becuase the display I saw in a store looked well made and I liked the price. I have only used it twice but I am pleased so far. It juices really fast and is easy to clean up if you do it right after enjoying your juice. The pulp is a bit wet which is the only complaint I have so far. I'd like to see more juice extracted like with my previous JL Juicer. Tonight I feed the veggies through slower thinking this might help extract more juice. This seemed to produce dryer pulp but it my have been my wishful thinking. This juicer is also very, very loud. It sounds like a jet is taking off in my kitchen.
Overall, I recommend this product if you are in the market for an inexpensive juicer.

This juicer is the first I've ever owned so I can't compare. It is easy to clean with the enclosed brush - just don't wait to clean it. It makes a good amount of juice - I bought the reciepe book and have enjoyed everything I've tried. Seems to be solid built.

Bought Juiceman JM300 and it broke within 10 days. Little bladelike thing in chute broke and plastic pieces chiped out of chute. Called repair center and had good service. They replaced the Juiceman JM300 with the JM400. Used it today for the first time and the same thing happened. I called repair center again and they are going to send another one and I would rather have my money back. I don't think three time will be the charm. I don't recommend this unit. I am going to look for a unit with stainless parts so they don't crack.

Move over Jack LaLane powerjuicer! The Juiceman does all the powerjuicer claims to do at a much lower price with more features.

I have fed the Juiceman apples, carrots (entire large ones), celery, strawberries and watermelon. It has juiced all of these without any difficulty at all and it extracts a huge amounts of juice. Takes care of carrots even at the slow speed. Cleanup of all juicers is a pain, do it right after when you are done juicing, thats the easiest.

Enough said, buy this one.

The Juiceman worked great ... until it suddenly stopped working! I had been juicing nothing but carrots and I juiced enough to make about a quart at a time. Today when I plugged in the juicer and turned the power on it didn't come on. I disassembled it and then reassembled it just to make sure I didn't have anything hooked up wrong, and still nothing happened when I switched on the power. I'll be returning it tomorrow for a refund and I'll look at another brand. I really wish things like this were made in the USA!

I love this juicer!!! My husband and I immediately tried it when we received it two days ago. It's so easy to assemble and use I only had to look at the parts page of the manual once! So far we have tried lots of carrots, apples and only needed to use the Low setting. It's got enough power for juicing these fruits. Tried grapefruit (without skin of course) and that worked perfectly. Same for pears. Blueberries were great too but they come out kinda like puree so you would want to intersperse blueberrie with high juice producing carrots or apples so it has an easier time going through the juicer. Very easy to clean, mostly warm water, little soap and the brush that comes with it is handy. I just left the pieces to dry and then assemble them back when they're dry. Love this product and highly recommend it.

The product makes juice, but the pulp is really wet. I had put in several strawberries and hardly any juice was extracted. I've only had the juicer for a week and found that the machine wastes way to much of the juice from fruits/vegies in the pulp. The pulp is very wet and soft fruits produce minimal amounts of juice. Even carrots and celery produce a very wet pulp. The cost of feeding this juicer will not outweigh the low price $109.99 regularly, but I bought it on sale for $79.99 at Kohl's. I will be returning the juicer this week, and I haven't decided if I'll try exchanging for another machine or get my money back. If I do exchange the product, and the results change for the better, I'll be commenting about it here on the Amazon site. I guess you get what you pay for when it comes to juicers. I hope this helps people out as the reviews up to this point have mentioned nothing about the pulp, and give nothing but rave reviews, thus my reason for buying. If other folks are getting different results please post and state where you bought your machine.

Decided to try this as an entry level juicer before looking at a masticator down the road. Not reassuringly sturdy, so down the road might not be too far off. That said, made short work of some hard veggies in a fast and efficient manner.

Per those people who noted they paid higher prices in the real world, you can persuade them to price match. I did. I was not so lucky trying to price match the Omega masticator in a real store. Omega distribution seems to have a hard, fast clamp on price across the board. Hence the arrival of the Juiceman 2 Jr. chez nous. We'll see how it do....

Exactly what I was looking for. For the person above that bought theirs at Walmart and paid more, I did the same, but only because every juicer I researched had a few disatisfied customers, I think it's the nature of the beast with these machines, some will just simply break down, either because they are poorly made or simple mis-use. At least with Walmart, you know if you have issues, you can switch it out fast and easy.

I have only had mine a few days, but could not be happier. I throw a few whole apples, carrots, cucumers in that thing and I got a huge glass in less than 30 seconds, and cleans in a few minutes.

Within a month of having my Juiceman JM400, the plastic piece on my blade basket broke. Now, I had been extremely careful with my juicer--always cutting apples into smaller pieces instead of throwing them in hole. I still have no idea why it snapped!

It took me quite some time to locate the actual manufacturer. Searching under 'Juiceman' lead me to Salton & Fox International. Because I'd become an avid juicer, I desperately needed a replacement by the time I got home from a week long vacation to Hawaii. I requested a replacement in the beginning of July 2008 (which is under warranty) and when I got home, NOTHING. I continued to inquire about the status of the replacement and finally in the winter I was informed that the part was on backorder. Not even until January was I told that the part would be delivered 02/28/2009. Mind you, I had been bugging the company all this time AND had to find a replacement on Ebay in the meantime. What was I supposed to do?! Over 6 months had gone by and I wanted to JUICE!!!

Needless to say, I still haven't received the replacement blade basket and I've reported the manufacturer to the BBB. Turns out many other people have!! Pretty miserable considering this company is BBB accredited.

As long as the juicer is in working order, I find it to be an amazing piece of health equipment. The only flaw is the that I have to strain the foam through the juice receptacle because the little piece of plastic that's inserted in the spout doesn't keept it all from pouring out of the top.

I just got this juicer and love it so far. Whole apples, grapes with stems and whole kiwi and carrots. The machine is quieter than expected and faster than expected. Comes apart easily for clean up and the included brush makes fast work of the basket. I chose this one after reading all the reviews and for the price. I'm very pleased so far.

Even though i originally wanted a Breville model this machine has surpassed my expectations. It's a bit messy but the juice is worth it, and their isn't alot of residue in the back container it captures most of the juice and nutrients out of the fruit / vegetable.
The cons:
lil messy - no big deal
a lil tough to clean the blades - mayb it was my fruit
it has a maintaining drip left from the fruit - paper towel would do fine.
A lil noisy - not annoying just dont juice at night

Overall i would give it a 8.75 out of 10

I have had this juicer for over a year now. I have juiced everything from apples, to pomegranite seeds, blackberries, strawberries, spinache, celery, you name it. This thing will go through a 5lb bag of carrots like it was nothing. The pulp is pretty dry, i have tried to run it through twice and didnt get much the second time, so it does a pretty good job of extracting juice. It is pretty loud, but what do you expect, its basically a mini wood chipper. Bottom line is its nice looking, very effective, and really good for you.

My favorite juice was Pomegranite seeds, sweet strawberries, apples, and spinache. The spinache will turn the mix brown, but if you just use a cup or two you get the health benefits, but it doesnt change the taste much. My most common juice is carrot-apple, it goes down smooth, its nice and sweet but not too sweet, and it seems to settle my stomache. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine!!

I bought this juicer last night at Walmart (it cost more there!). Once I read the assembly instructions and rinsed all the pieces in warm, soapy water, I put it together and tried it out. Wow! It's powerful! It went through those apples and carrots like nothing else. I like the cup that goes under the spout; it's not too small and doesn't splatter juice everywhere. I don't use the separator, though, because I like my juice frothy -- especially the orange juice. Anyway, I only juiced three carrots, three apples and three oranges last night, but the machine had no problem and never hinted at getting clogged. When I went to clean it I took the pieces off one at a time and rinsed them under hot water. The small amount of pulp came off very easily. The pulp was a little juicier than what came out of my old Jack LaLanne juicer, but I didn't mind because it made it easier to rinse off. The only part that was difficult to clean was the mesh filter, but the included brush helped a lot; and I don't see how you could make one of those easy to clean anyway. I had placed a plastic bag in the pulp bin, so I didn't even have to clean that. When I woke up this morning I put the machine back together -- after letting it air dry in my sink strainer -- and juiced some more of the same. It was much easier to assemble and disassemble this time because I knew what I was doing. All in all it took only about 10-15 minutes to juice three glasses -- one apple, one orange, one carrot -- and clean everything.

I love this juicer! It's not too big and will not stain because it's stainless steel, which is great. My only complaint is that it is quite loud (scares the dog), but since I live alone it's not like I'm going to wake anyone up. I will keep experimenting with new fruits and vegetables, and if I ever have any problems I'll be sure to report them here. Otherwise, I am very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend this juicer.

I love this juicer. My mom got a juicer a few months ago and it worked well but I read reviews on the Juiceman JM400 and it seemed like a good one. I've been juicing almost everyday since I received it. I can put as many fruits/veggies in one juice as I want. I just check the filter to make sure it doesn't need to be cleaned. Easy clean up overall. Once you know how all the pieces fit together it's easy to detach, clean and reassemble. I feel so good about all the good juice I'm drinking but even more, my kids love it and it's so good for them. My 7 year old son is not a big fruit and veggie eater but I can give him a juice that has five or six different fruits and he loves it. The Juiceman JM400 has easy clean up, a powerful motor and I love the stainless steel because I read reviews on some of the white juicers and they stained easily. My juicer still looks brand new and no stains. Great product!

I received my Juiceman Jr "chrome" as a gift and have been enjoying it for about a week now, and so far I'm very pleased with it. I used to have a juicer but it was so incredibly loud that I only used it a few times. This one is very powerful but just about as loud as a blender. The juices I've made so far have been really delicious, and now when I'm hungry I find myself making a nice glass of fresh juice whereas before my first inclination was to go for less healthful foods, so I think it will have a lasting positive effect on my overall diet.

There are a couple of negatives I'd like to mention. First, the machine is not made of chrome metal, as the description would lead one to believe. The exterior is all plastic, some parts are just "chrome" colored. If I had ordered this myself, that would have p-ssed me off. Also, the rigidness of the removable / washable parts concerns me that they may crack as they age. I think a more rubbery (like Tuppereware) consistency would last longer. Another reviewer stated it only took them 30 seconds to clean their machine, but it takes me about 5 minutes to do it right. Although plastic, I do like the locking handle design- it feels safe to use.

Back in the day I had the old Juiceman Jr., which did it's job. Well it gave out a few years ago and cleaning it was a pain. I did miss fresh juice though so I bought this a couple of weeks ago. I tell you what they have done a wonderful job, this is a very nice upgrade from the old design. A lot of refinements throughout the entire appliance. Stronger motor, two speeds, better looking and much easier to clean.

I defiantly recommend this and great price.
